Here’s our expert guide to help you plan the perfect honeymoon in Switzerland.

Are you looking for a honeymoon experience that is off the tourist-beaten track? Choose adventure, culture, history, unbeatable natural vistas, and world-class cuisine by heading to Switzerland.

From azure mountain lakes to snow-capped mountains, cozy alpine chalets, charming cities, medieval castles, and cattle-dotted meadows, this tiny country offers the perfect setting for a romantic escape. We’re here to answer all your pressing questions and help design your dream holiday for two, in Switzerland.

Is Switzerland for You?

Switzerland is a unique union of cultures from Italy, France, and Germany. It offers an interesting blend of Europe, all at one go. If you’re looking for a honeymoon destination that offers thrilling adventure sports amidst ethereal nature, then this is the spot for you.

Being a landlocked country, Switzerland isn’t known for its coastline; couples looking for a laidback beach destination to kick back and unwind post wedding festivities might be better served elsewhere. Switzerland is for you if you’re interested in a cultural experience full of vibrant city life, stunning alpine backdrops, and luxurious stays.

When is the Best Time to Travel Here?

Switzerland is a yearlong destination with plenty to do both in the summer and in the winter. The temperature rarely exceeds 25° Celsius, and while the Alps stay snow-capped all year round, the plains offer a great summer in Switzerland.

Visit between May–August for warmer weather that will allow for leisurely riverside strolls and outdoor activities. If a cozy winter honeymoon is more your speed, consider planning your trip from December–March.

Getting There

Indian citizens require a valid Schengen visa to travel into Switzerland. The visa application takes up to 15 working days to be processed.

The travel itself is hassle-free, with many airlines operating flights from all major cities into Zurich. Switzerland’s main airports link perfectly to the country’s outstanding public transport network. In Geneva and Zurich, a railway station is located right inside the airport, and comfortable trains leave for the city center and other Swiss cities at regular intervals.

Switzerland has the densest public transport network in the world, covering over 29,000 km of rail, road, and waterway. Using public transport is also the fastest and most reliable way to travel around Switzerland, and the Swiss Travel System passes and cards allow for unlimited travel.
